Incoming tide at Hook Head, oils on canvas 12" x 16" |
We were heading out to the tip of a peninsula, to a lighthouse of all places, the most exposed painting location of the week.
We had a plan, me and Lori my new friend. Turn up, get canvasses stamped, turn heel and drive inland. Somewhere with shelter.
But what was this? As we drove towards Hook Head, spots and patches of blue started to appear in the clouds.
We arrived in glorious sunshine! We painted in sunshine all day, and it was my best painting day of the week, without doubt!
Now I'm off to the Festival BBQ! It's pouring with rain again now, but that doesn't matter at all!
Oh how I envy you participating in the Festival, I'll get there one day.
ReplyDeleteLovely work.
It's great here Mick, I thoroughly recommend that you do! :-)
DeleteWhat an exciting post, and a great painting too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen, which painting? The photos of them are not too good. I'll replace them soon! :-)
DeleteLovely paintings Haidee, thought the first one was a photo at first! Tone and colours spot on. Enjoying reading about this painting adventure and your ability to not let the rain spoil it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nigel, I really enjoyed having a sunny day for a change! And I did my best two paintings of the week :-)
DeleteBoth cracking paintings....the top one has fantastic tonal presence and lovely colours....demands your attention! You've done very well out of the trip by the looks of things.
ReplyDeleteThanks David, it has been a good trip. These were my favourite paintings of the week really.
DeleteHaidee, I'm so glad you got some sunshine, you all really deserve it. These paintings are fantastic. I love the first one, it so captures the crashing waves, and the colors are beautiful. Maybe save it for a big exhibition? The moodiness of the second, with the grayed down colors is wonderful too. Two such different moods for the same day, I know you are used to that, with all the off and on weather in UK land. Can't wait to see what comes next. - Bobbi
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Bobbi, good plan. And you're right, they are such different moods as after lunch the sky had clouded over. I stood in exactly the same spot to paint the second but looked in the other direction. I was attracted to the bright strip of sunlit grass under the dark sky, as well as the waves against the rocks :-)
DeleteLoved the Hook Head one - and Brehat ones too. You have a wonderful way with the brushstrokes.
