Grand canal, slightly hazy

View of the Salute from the Accademia bridge

Finally the fog has lifted, after two days. I had a better day today, yesterday I was flagging and uninspired by the flat light conditions.
This is my first of three today, the Salute painted from the Accademia bridge. I do think it's a great view if you're lucky enough to see the sun rise. We've been getting up super early every day but the sun has eluded us so far.
I'll be able to show you all the other paintings when I get home later in the week, I hope they travel well!

  1. Haidee-Jo...I'm so jealous!! I dream of being in Venice again. What does your husband do while you paint? I didn't think they allow oil paint and thinners on flights...how did you manage it?
You certainly inspire me to get out more. Nice paintings.

    1. Ken, you can take oil colours packed securely in your hold luggage, and buy turps when you arrive here, there are several art shops. My husband was at home minding the fort! More painting gets done that way!

  2. I'm so glad to get this post, I was afraid that you had only been able to stay a few days, and most of them foggy. Good to see you had more time. And so many paintings! You have been working very hard (just like you did on the Wapper trip). And they are just great. The drawing on each one is masterly, even before getting to the actual painting. Can't wait to see them all complete and up close. What a great trip!
